Amy Rynn, LPC, ATR-BC

Hi, I'm Amy (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) with over 10 years of experience in individual and group counseling. I work with adults, couples, and teens, and I earned my Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2022, I moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to enjoy a slower pace of life and more time outdoors.

My approach emphasizes building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship, which allows us to work together towards healing and self-discovery. I specialize in supporting clients as they build resilience to burnout and work-related stress, embrace a healthier relationship with food and body image, and address the impact of complex trauma, depression, and anxiety. I also support individuals and couples in working through relational conflicts in both individual and couples counseling.

In therapy, I strive to create a space where self-acceptance and the desire for change can coexist. I combine art therapy and relational therapy techniques in my practice. When we build an environment of openness and safety, therapy can become a powerful journey toward personal growth and recovery. I believe that creative expression can be a powerful way to gain insight and heal. In our sessions, I use art therapy exercises to help you explore and understand your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions in a meaningful way.

“Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced.”
